Using The Excel Spreadsheet (Part 1)

Excel is a product of Microsoft corporation. It is a spreadsheet software used for mathematical, financial and statistical calculations.
To use the Excel on a PC, Microsoft office must be installed in the PC.
To run Excel; Click the "Start" button and type excel in the search box. The Excel icon would be displayed on the start menu, click on it and Excel workbook would be opened.



You can also access excel by typing Excel on the "Run" command.
Excel spreadsheet is displayed in rows and columns, lettered A-Z, 1-~ or R1 - R~ and C1 - C~.... A cell comprises of a column and a row. For example "B2" means a cell located at column B, Row 2 just like o a chess board.

In Excel, formulas are written in the 'fx' box below the tool boxes i.e Home, Insert, Page Layout etc.
Excel has endless capabilities when it comes to mathematical operations, it is fun to use and easy to understand.
I advise you start with excel if you're interested in Database management or learning computer programming.
